There’s so much you want to do. But there’s so much you have to do before you can get there. And with so many distractions vying for your attention, some days you feel paralyzed into inaction.

There’s YouTube, there’s Instagram, there’s TikTok, there’s Netflix. There’s the constant mindless scroll. How many times have you told yourself “just one more video” — and several hours later you’re deep into a rabbit hole of Graham Norton clips or home renovation how-tos?

Almost by accident, I stumbled across a solution that has worked miracles for me. When I started to write down everything I did in a day, almost immediately my wasted time dropped from hours — even entire days and more — to practically nothing.

My productivity skyrocketed when I introduced this small degree of self-accountability.

What Have I Done?
FOCUS
Concentrate on what’s important to you, not the million other things pulling you away.
ACCOUNTABILITY
When you make a record of everything you do, you’re much more inclined to do the right thing.
PRODUCTIVITY
You’ll be amazed by the results when you do the work that needs to be done — and in far less time than it took you before.
Who Else Does This?

Lawyers are notorious for tracking their billable hours. They write down everything they do so they can charge their clients for it.
Dua Lipa recently revealed to Seth Meyers that she has scheduled every minute of her day ever since she was a young girl. And who doesn’t want to be like Dua Lipa?
In her book Off the Clock, Laura Vanderkam advises the technique of “forced mindfulness,” or being actively aware of how you spend your time, as a way of becoming more relaxed and less stressed as you go about your day.
How Does It Work?

At its simplest, all you need to do is write down what you do. You can be as granular or as broad as you like. You could always use a pocket notebook or journal or the Notes app on your phone — but this site is built as something easier to work with, made specifically for the task at hand, with a few extra features you won’t find elsewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really need to write down everything I do?

Write down as much or as little as you like. The key is to remain mindful throughout the day of how you're spending your time. If you get into the habit of recording what you've done each time you switch to a new task or activity, you'll see the benefits.

Can’t I just use a print journal?

Of course! A print journal is a wonderful tool. You won't be able to easily search or run reports like you could with this site, but a written journal will give you all the mindfulness benefits of logging your activities along with a permanenent record.

Can’t I just use a Word (or Pages) doc?

Sure! These paid apps will work as activity logs, but you might find them cumbersome for recording multiple days. You'll soon end up with very large files — or a folder full of them!

Can’t I just use a Google doc or my Notes app?

These will work as well, but this site is specifically designed to be as easy as possible to use for the one task at hand — adding time-stamped log entries to your journal. A Google doc or Notes has similar drawbacks to Word or Pages, with all the clutter and distraction of features you don't need, and without some of the features you might enjoy.

Do I have to do this forever?

Not at all. Use it every day, use it just for a couple weeks, or use it for a while and come back to it whenever you feel like you need a mindfulness refresher.

Can anyone else see my entries?

No, you'll make your entries in a password-protected account that only you have access to.

Do I need to pay for a subscription?

Nope. This site is 100% free to use. At some point in the future we may consider running minimal ads to help pay the bills, but if we do that we'll be sure to give you an option to continue with an ad-free, distraction-free service.
